PAT Testing and EICR Reports
PAT testing
PAT testing (Portable Appliance Testing) is typically carried out every two years for stationary equipment and annually for mobile electrical items such as hoovers. The testing is completed by a qualified professional using a portable appliance tester device to ensure the equipment is safe and compliant. Poorly maintained or faulty electrical equipment can lead to electric shocks, burns, or even fires, posing serious risks to the safety of people within the building.
Regular, informal checks by the electrical equipment’s user/s
A formal visual inspection of the equipment
A manual examination of the equipment with a portable appliance tester device (the PAT test)
EICR testing and reporting
An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a detailed inspection of a building’s electrical system to ensure it is safe and compliant with current regulations. During the inspection, a qualified electrician will check the condition of wiring, sockets, switches, and fuse boards.

Protection against damage to property
Confirmation that the installation is not damaged
