Legionella Water Testing and Assessment

A dependable approach to water safety and compliance

Stagnant pipework breeds Legionella bacteria, hot water tanks set to the incorrect temperature or scale build-up on outlets. All Legionella control documentation, including logbooks, test results, maintenance records, and risk assessments, must be retained for a minimum of five years and be readily available for inspection by enforcing authorities.

Smart PPM Fix

  • Annual Legionella risk assessment and written control scheme

  • Weekly flush of seldom-used outlets; record hot ≥ 50 °C, cold ≤ 20 °C

  • Annual water samples sent for testing

  • Monthly temperature checks

This procedure applies to all premises, systems, and personnel under the control of the organization where water is used or stored in a way that may present a risk of exposure to aerosolized Legionella bacteria, including:

  • Commercial hot and cold water systems

  • Showers and spray taps

  • Calorifiers and storage tanks

  • Cooling towers (if applicable)

  • Any other equipment producing water aerosols

KPI: Zero positive Legionella samples; < 24 h.
